    Charade

    In the film Charade, a woman named Regina is pursued by three men who want a sum of money her recently murdered husband stole from them.     A Man Called Ove

    The film A Man Called Ove follows a grumpy widower named Ove who, after his wife's death, makes repeated, failed attempts to commit suicide. His suicide attempts are consistently interrupted by his new, boisterous neighbours, a young family who move in next door. Through flashbacks, the film reveals Ove's past and the events that shaped him, ultimately leading to his reluctant re-engagement with life and the formation of an unexpected, heartwarming community around him.

    Gunfight at the OK Corall

    The film is a 1957 fictionalised account focusing on the developing alliance between lawman Wyatt Earp and gambler Doc Holliday, culminating in their confrontation with the Clanton gang in Tombstone, Arizona. The story follows Wyatt Earp (Burt Lancaster) as a renowned, no-nonsense U.S. Marshal who is growing tired of law enforcement but is driven by a strong sense of justice. In Fort Griffin, Texas, he encounters the terminally ill, sardonic gambler and gunfighter Doc Holliday (Kirk Douglas).

    Moa's Last Dancer

    Mao's Last Dancer is a biographical film about Li Cunxin, a Chinese peasant who was trained to become a ballet dancer at Madame Mao's Dance Academy. He is chosen for a cultural exchange to the Houston Ballet, falls in love with an American dancer, and eventually defects to the United States to pursue a life of personal and creative freedom. The film follows his journey through political and personal struggles, the pain of being separated from his family, and his rise to international stardom.

    Marysville Film Society is a not-for-profit organisation based in Marysville in the beautiful Yarra Valley in country Victoria. It has been running and screening films monthly since 2019, with a current membership of around 50 people.

    MFS is a member of the Federation of Victorian Film Societies (FVFS) which provides support for individual film societies throughout Victoria.

    Membership of the Marysville Film Society is essential to comply with regulations for the screening rights of a film society, though newcomers can pay a part-membership on their first visit, with a requirement to complete their membership the next time they attend.

    Current membership is $50 per person annually but for the rest of the
    2026 season we are now charging $25 for the final six movies payable on the night by cash or card, or at any time by bank transfer.

    Movies are shown at the Marysville Community Centre , where members can enjoy tea, coffee, light snacks and even a glass of wine.
    All movies commence at 7:30pm on the 3
    rd Saturday of the month, refreshments available from 7pm and after the screening.
